Gerson concludes that "the new economy has transformed our ideals but left people facing a gap between their aspirations and their opinions." Summarize her argument. Do you agree?
Varies. May include the following:
-The gender revolution has lead many women and men desiring both a fulfilling career and to spend quality time with their family as a caretaker. However, economic and professional pressures often do not let this happen and only 15% of couples were able to attain their desired egalitarian relationships. Even those 15% felt their arrangements were precarious and worried about job prospects because of a lack of ability to devote large amounts of time to their careers. Thus, our ideals are transformed, but our reality has yet to catch up.
