While there are certainly examples of authoritarian regimes with corrupt economic institutions, such as many African and Middle Eastern states, there are also examples of authoritarian regimes successfully implementing sound economic policies. Chile under General Pinochet and South Korea under Park Chung-hee are two notable examples, both of which saw significant economic growth under their respective authoritarian leaders. It's worth noting, however, that such economic growth often comes at the expense of political freedoms and human rights.
