Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is an abnormal prostate enlargement that most commonly affects male clients age >50. The prostate gradually enlarges and compresses the urethra, causing voiding problems. Symptoms include urinary urgency, frequency, and hesitancy, dribbling urine after voiding, nighttime frequency (nocturia), and urinary retention.
