Because Lucille's BP is greater than 140/90 with onset after the 20th week and no proteinuria, this is gestational hypertension. Chronic hypertension, while the same BP cutoff is used, is present before the 20th week. If this patient had accompanying proteinuria, preeclampsia could be considered. Supine hypotensive syndrome does not cause hypertension.
