The principle of comparative advantage suggests that both trading partners can benefit from trade by specializing in the production of goods for which they have a comparative advantage, and then trading with each other. For example, if Country A can produce wheat at a lower opportunity cost than Country B, and Country B can produce textiles at a lower opportunity cost than Country A, then it makes sense for Country A to specialize in producing wheat and Country B to specialize in producing textiles. Then, they can trade with each other, with Country A exporting wheat to Country B, and Country B exporting textiles to Country A.
