The symptoms described suggest that the students may have conjunctivitis, which is highly contagious. Sending the kids home until their symptoms have cleared is the best option to prevent the spread of infection. Additionally, recommending good hand washing and hygiene to the rest of the school is a vital preventive measure. Obtaining prescriptions of ciprofloxacin drops is not possible without a proper diagnosis from a physician. Recommending a total school shutdown is an extreme measure and not justified in this scenario.
