Mr. A is being admitted to a long-term care facility. He is a 45-year-old posttrauma client. The motor vehicle accident in which he became paralyzed below the waist also killed his wife and daughter. The accident occurred 6 months ago. In the meantime, he has been treated at a rehabilitation center. He is depressed and freely shares his feelings of guilt and loss. The depression has interfered with his progress toward rehabilitation and also contributed to a 20-pound weight loss since the accident. After many trials of various antidepressants, he is now receiving phenelzine. The following questions relate to his care. When teaching nursing assistants about the dietary restrictions needed by 1.Mr. A, the nurse should be sure the nursing assistants understand that:
