To maintain the same state of well-being per person, a rapidly growing population creates the need for the current generation to set aside more resources than if the population were stable. Should the obligation of the current generation be limited to assuring that well-being will not decline for future generations as long as populations are comparable, or should the obligation take into account population growth and assure resources enough for larger populations? Why?
