The factors that are involved in determining if humans might not be able to sustain life on the planet:
Water: Water is the major factor required for the existence of the life. If water is absent the life on the planet would be absent.
Atmospheric composition: If the carbon dioxide and the oxygen are less hence the biogenesis of simple organic compounds would not takes place.
Habitable zone: The distance of the planet is from the sun is related to the existence of life. If the planet is closer to the sun the excessive heat of the sun does not enhance the life on the planet.
Climatic influence: The climate also influence for the life. Good weather with good seasons facilitates the life.
