Joyce Payne got a permanent wave from a beautician, Ms. Thrower. Ms. Thrower used a permanent wave product called Soft Sheen, and she carefully read and followed all instructions on the wave kit. While Ms. Thrower applied one step ("rearranger")in the process, Ms. Payne complained of a burning sensation in her back. The wave was completed, but two days later Ms. Payne was diagnosed in a hospital emergency room as having second-degree burns on her back. She brought suit against the manufacturer of the wave and Ms. Thrower. Ms. Thrower says there were no warnings about the rearranger possibly burning skin. Who is liable?
