Weisure-the Blurring of Work and Leisure
The distinction between work and leisure for some gets blurred. This blending of work and play has been coined "weisure" by sociologist Dalton Conley. At one point in time work stayed in the office and play was done outside the workplace. Now there are ample opportunities where the two overlap or become ambiguous. Here are a few examples:
Workers use smart phones and other technology during their leisure time to keep in contact with work.
Workers chat on Facebook during a conference call.
Workers discuss fantasy football or NCAA Final Four pools at work with colleagues who are participants in the league or pool.
This merging of work and leisure has been blamed on several things including longer work weeks for those moving up the economic ladder, the desire to take care of work during free time, and some are simply willing to let work invade their play time.
Are there some types of people or jobs that require people to mix work and leisure more than others
