On April 19, 1995, a bomb made with ammonium nitrate fertilizer destroyed the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. People injured in the bombing filed suit against the manufacturers of ammonium nitrate alleging liability under a variety of theories including negligence per se. They alleged the defendants violated laws and regulations regarding the sale of explosives.
