Informational managerial role of a leader, acts as a source to provide knowledge and information to the followers. The various roles an informational leader undertakes are as follows:
• Monitor Role:
In this role, a leader monitors the information that comes in and out of the organization. Earlier a leader never used to pass on the information but at present, a leader monitors all kind of information from inside and outside sources of the organization. It includes activities like meetings, associations, memos, newspapers etc.
• Disseminator Role:
Disseminator role of a leader comes into light when the information is transmitted to others in the organization. Because some information is present only with the managers and they find it necessary to pass them to employees, for smooth functioning of operations. It includes passing of information through voice mail, personal or group discussion, emails etc.
• Spokesperson Role:
As a spokes personal role a leader passes on information, to people outside the organizational unit. This role includes activities like discussion over some issues, meetings with the budget officer to discuss over budget, providing information to the government etc.
