You have been asked by GP R to write a report describing your company's operations. Here are some facts: There are five project managers, 10 engineers, 14 surveyors, 20 supervisors, 150 heavy equipment operators, 55 laborers, and 33 traffic directors. Equipment includes 24 dump trucks, 25 steam rollers, 38 front-end loaders, 47 backhoes, 39 graders, 35 bulldozers, 27 steam shovels, and six asphalt layers.
You are currently under contract to widen two state highways from two to four lanes; one is 22 miles and the other is 39 miles. You just bid on a job to resurface 113 miles of two-lane state routes. Eighty-eight percent of the equipment is operable at any given time, and your equipment is valued at around $34 million. Payroll is about $300,000 per week. Depending on the size of the job, there are 1-2 project managers, 2-3 engineers, and 4-7 supervisors at the job site.
