Microtubules and Cell Walls. Genetically engineered plant cells have been produced in which cellulose synthase is labeled with yellow fluorescent protein and -tubulin is labeled with the cyan fluorescent protein (YFP and CFP are variants of the green fluorescent protein, GFP, that can be distinguished in the fluorescence microscope).
(a)Design an experiment that would show that the positions of cellulose synthase rosettes and microtubules are strongly correlated.
(b)Design an experiment to confirm that microtubules are necessary for correct positioning of cellulose synthase rosettes.
