Some companies use the overtime premium method to determine gross earnings. Use this method to complete this payroll ledger. Overtime is paid at the time-and-a-half rate for all hours over 40. (See Example.)
Using the Overtime Premium Method
This week, Holly Kelly worked 40 regular hours and 12 overtime hours. Her regular rate of pay is $17.40 per hour. Find her total gross pay, using the overtime premium method.
SOLUTION

The calculator solution uses the order of operations to find the regular earnings and the overtime earnings, and then adds these together.
