Internet Exercise: Audit Charters. Most universities have internal audit departments, and most of them have audit charters that are available on the university website (although you may need to hunt to find it). Go to the website of your college or university and find the internal audit department. Find and print the audit charter or its equivalent. If you are having trouble finding it, call or e-mail the internal audit department and ask whether someone can provide a copy of the audit charter. If your university does not have an internal audit department or does not make its charter available, check the website of one of the larger public universities in your state.

b. What authority does the internal audit department have?
c. To whom does the internal audit department report?
d. When the internal audit department issues a report, who gets it?
e. Are there any items described in the audit charter that you find surprising or interesting?
