The Blackwells hired Choi as an interpreter in 1997 and over time Mr. Choi assisted with the family finances and other matters. In 2010 Blackwell's wife fired Choi and later the parties signed an agreement agreeing to pay Choi $450,000 "for the work Choi had done for Blackwell." Choi sued to obtain payment.
