The public health nurse is responsible for merging the nursing knowledge and expertise with the population of the community and their betterment. They perform many activities. They are responsible for the evaluation of the risk factors in the community and estimate the target population.
They aim at designing the public policy for promoting health and disease prevention in the target population. They are also responsible for the assessment and the evaluation of the health care services and ensure its correct implementation. Their major role is to provide health education, disease prevention, disease management and symptom identification knowledge to the individuals of the community.
They should also educate the people about the various treatment options of the common diseases. Public health deals with the awareness and promotion about the prevention of diseases, symptoms and the available treatment options. The public health department of a country aims to protect and promote health and safety in the country.
