Difference between rules of ethical behavior in Company and Personal life:
Ethics are ethics regardless if it is business or not. How you perceive someone's ethics on a personal level equates to their business ethics. The question of how they are different is simply the difference in setting.
For example, ethics in business involve the following:
a) Transparency
b) Honesty in practices, and
c) Professionalism.
In personal setting, ethics also involve honesty in practices and in word.
So you see that it is rare to distinguish the two. It should be understood that if someone is lacking in personal ethical behavior, they can be expected to lack professional ethical behavior, and eventually be a sour point for the organization in which they work.
The difference between business ethics and personal ethics are with business ethics nothing is to be perceived as "personal," but that cannot be true because colleague interactions can be quite personal at one point or another.
In both the places, i.e. in workplace as well as in personal life the rules of ethics are the same. Ethics is about deciding what is right and what is wrong. The person who can follow ethical behavior will also be following ethical behavior at workplace also. Though there may be situations where the person as the employee of an organization is tempted to do unethical activities but the person's ethical standards will not permit him to do anything unethical.
There may be situations where there may arise a clash between the Company's requirement and the individual's ethical standards. A person with strong ethical values will not succumb to any pressure and do what he believes in right while a person who is not that strong at his values will be end up doing an unethical activity.
