United Parcel Service (UPS) required all its "package-car drivers" to pass a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) hearing standard. DOT's standard applies only to those vehicles weighing over 10,001 pounds when loaded with cargo, but UPS' requirement applied to all UPS drivers. A class of UPS employees and applicants unable to pass the DOT hearing standard brought an ADA claim against UPS. Decide the case. Explain. See Bates v. UPS, 511 F.3d 974 (9th Cir. 2007).
