You're the new assistant to the director of marketing and sales at Ace Computer Services. One of your first tasks is to advise your boss, Becky Meece, on how the company's website should be enhanced. As Becky rightly points out, the current site looks amateurish. Its homepage has random-seeming contents in a random-looking layout, and since the structure of the site isn't clear, it's hard to tell what kind of information is here and where to find the specific information one is looking for. She has decided to contract out the redesign of the website, but she wants to be able to make clear to the designer what changes she is looking for.
Conduct research on what makes a website good in terms of content, design, navigation, and usability, and-putting that together with what you know about adaptation to the readers, effective writing, use of visuals, and readable formatting-advise your boss on the qualities and content the revised site should have. Prepare your report in such a way that she can hand it over to the Web designer without much revision. ( Helpful hint : Find a computer services website that is not well designed and pretend that this is Ace Computer Services' current site. Then study some well-designed sites to get ideas for improvement. Let your instructor know what sites you consulted.)
