Patricia K. Kerig and Kurt K. Stellwagen at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill gathered data from children diagnosed primarily with externalizing behavior disorders at a large psychiatric institution in North Carolina. The data included a 15-item questionnaire (Crick Grotpeter, 1995) shown in the table below. Each was answered on a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 = Never and 5 = All the Time. Factor analyze the data shown in the file Ex18.3.sav. The file is available at the website for this text at the address http://www.pearsonhighered.com/stern2e. The data appear here by permission of Professors Kerig (now at Miami University) and Stellwagen (now at Eastern Washington University). The questions have the variable names q1 to q15 in the data file. Arrive at an interpretation of each factor retained in the analysis based on loadings of questions on the rotated factors.
