Helping the Highly Cohesive but Low-Performing Team
"I don't know what the problem is," says a member of a team formed two months ago. "We don't bicker or fi ght, and we all get along so well. We seem like a very cohesive team, we are really well organized, and we have great members. But the products of our work are disappointing." Another member puts it a bit more succinctly, "I love our team, but our performance stinks."
Assuming that the team does have capable members, what would be potential causes of the team's low performance? How would you go about trying to diagnose what is wrong? What suggestions would you give the team for ways they might go about producing higher-quality outcomes?
