When you flush your toilet, where does the wastewater go? Trace the actual flow of this water in your community from your toilet through sewers to a wastewater treatment plant (or to a septic system) and from there to the environment. Try to visit a local sewage treatment plant to see what it does with wastewater. Compare the processes it uses with those shown in Figure 11.32. What happens to the sludge produced by this plant? What improvements, if any, would you suggest for this plant?
