Practice using the backchannel. In class, have one student deliver a three-minute presentation on any topic. During the presentation, five students in the audience sign onto Twitter and, using the same hashtag (e.g., #BusComm402), tweet one encouraging comment and one question. After the presentation, show the Twitter feed, and discuss the benefits and challenges of using the backchannel in this way. Then, have the speaker continue the presentation by debriefing comments and answering questions from the Twitter feed. Try to do this within three minutes (you won't be able to address everything) to summarize the presentation.
