When is ninety-six percent silica glass used?
Ninety-six percent silica is used when high thermal hardness and the ability to withstand the thermal shock of going rapidly from hot to cold is required.
2
Describe block glass and how it is made.
Glass blocks are made by fusing two halves of pressed glass together, creating a space with a partial vacuum. This produces an insulating value equal to a 12 in. (305 mm) thick concrete wall (U-value 0.51, R-value 1.96). Glass blocks are very strong and provide excellent security.
