Comprehensibility is defined as the cognitive ability to understand and put events in perspective, thus giving a sense of control over the situation. Manageability reflects a belief that individuals and families have the resources to cope successfully with change and challenge. Meaningfulness is an ability to find meaning from situations and the demands they create, plus the ability to learn from the experience of doing so. Problems are reinterpreted as challenges.
