An 11-year-old female presents to the clinic with a chief complaint of back pain. She is pre-menarchal.Her mother started her menses around age 13. Her mother noticed that her daughter's ribs looked a little different on one side this summer in her bathing suit. Family history is negative for any bone or joint problems. She has a 19-year-old sibling who was treated for back pain a year ago with physical therapy. The x-rays demonstrate a 32-degree scoliotic curve. The physician recommends bracing.
