Here we see of two friends of the same age and they graduated in medical technology (MTs) from the same university, and thereafter applied for a job in the same hospital and fortunately both were given a job with the same salary. As described in case 1.3.
After much observation we've come to a conclusion about non-verbal communication or behavior speaks or conveys or reveals more than spoken words do. Actions speak louder than words- actions that are silent, unspoken words and gestures speak volumes at times.
These two technicians were offered a job in the same place with the same pay but one of them did not farewell, he seems to have anxiety issues and was nervous and tensed this in turn affected the patients. Most of the times he would fail to draw blood at the first attempt, and would have to make another attempt to draw blood but, the patients wouldn't be willing to cooperate with him.
Sadly he would have to call upon his friend who then would with a smile and assurance shinning in his eyes effortlessly draws the blood from the same patient. This is the difference non-verbal communication makes in communication. He then gets promoted to a higher pay while the other doesn't.
The question is, can this non-promoted, medical technician improve his performance, if yes, then how? This technician needs to improve his non-verbal communication on a daily basis, he should learn to smile and give confidence and assurance to his patients so that they too cooperate with him. Only practice can make one perfect therefore he needs to work on his gestures and communication skill and build the technician-patient relationship.
