Brigham Young University (BYU) yanked the eligibility of one of its star basketball players as it headed, with justifiably high hopes, into March Madness in 2011. The university declared the young player ineligible because he had broken the school's honor code, a provision that requires students to remain chaste prior to marriage. The player admitted to coaches and university administrators that he had broken the code's provision on chastity. With the player out for post-season play, immediately after his removal, BYU lost its first game by 28 points. BYU had lost only two games during regular season play.
