The HprK gene encodes a kinase that regulates carbohydrate metabolism. Can you conclude that the DNA fragment contains a gene encoding a kinase? Can you conclude that the DNA contains a gene homologous to HprK ? Can you conclude that the DNA contains a gene that functions to regulate carbohydrate metabolism? For any one of these inferences that you cannot make, state why you cannot make it, and what would you do to investigate the issue further.
