Beck, a high school baseball coach, ordered six pairs of flip-type baseball sunglasses from Rayex Corporation. Rayex had advertised the sunglasses as baseball sunglasses that would give "instant eye protection." While one of his baseball players, Michael Filler, was using a pair the glasses were hit by a fly ball. The glasses shattered, and as a result, Filler lost his right eye. Filler then brought a lawsuit against Rayex, claiming, among other things, a breach of the implied warranty of fitness for a particular purpose. Was the manufacturer liable for breach of the implied warranty of fitness for a particular purpose?
