While working in his garden, Ambrose Torson cut his hand on the sharp edge of a garden rake. He washed the wound with soap and water and applied an adhesive bandage. The next day the wound was swollen and he didn't feel well; he also noted some red streaks extending from the wound toward his wrist, and some enlarged tender lymph nodes in his axilla (armpit).
