Assume dispersal by simple diffusion (Eq. 5.1, page 65). How far would a plant be expected to move in 50 generations if the average dispersal distance was 100 m and the plant produced 10 3 seeds per generation? Is the distance moved more sensitive to the number of seeds produced or to the average dispersal distance? Double or triple each of these parameters and discuss the impact on the distance colonized by these life cycle changes.
