Black duck populations have been declining in North America since the mid-1950s. One hypothesis for this decline is that it is due to overhunting. Review the evidence for and against this hypothesis, and discuss the possible management actions that might help to stop this decline. Conroy et al. (2002) provide an overview of this management problem.
