You are diving in the calm, warm waters between a large tropical reef that formed around an island. You come across the branching soft coral shown in Figure 25.45 a. You observe that it grows only on the side of the reefs spine facing the island, not the side exposed to the open ocean. Develop a hypothesis to explain its one-sided distribution. How you would go about testing the hypothesis
