Exercise 17
As the Student Senate's representative on the faculty's Academic Affairs Committee at your school, you make sure that students' concerns are heard on all academic matters. One of the committee members recently introduced a proposal to change the grading system from straight letter grades (A, B, C...) to plus \ minus grading (A, A-, B+, B...), and the change seems appeal to the rest of the committee. As the representative of the students, you believe you'd better weigh in on this issue.
See what grading system other schools like yours in your state use, and see if you can find out how students in general feel about one system or the other. Then write the other committee members a short report for or against the plus \ minus grading system. Explain why you feel one is better than the other for the students at your school. (And \ or, if your instructor directs, design and conduct a student survey and prepare a longer, more formal report; or choose a different student-related issue.)
