"The Dead Cat in the Package"
Two women were on their way to do some last-minute Christmas shopping at the Mall when a cat suddenly darted out in front of them and under the wheels of their car. They immediately pulled over to the side of the road and attempted to assist the badly injured animal. One of the women went to nearby houses in an attempt to locate the owner of the cat, but no one was home. When she got back to the car, she learned the cat had died. Rather than leave the poor cat by the side of the road, the two women decided to continue on to the Mall and dispose of the cat's remains in a dumpster they were sure they could find. They took one of their shopping bags out of the car, stuffed the cat inside it, put the bag in the trunk of the car, and proceeded on their way. Upon their arrival at the Mall, they removed the shopping bag and put it on the top of the trunk while they sorted out their returns. Suddenly they looked up in time to see a woman snatch the apparently unguarded holiday shopping bag. The two ladies discretely followed the woman to a popular lunch spot. As the woman sat down and gave the waitress her order, she reached into the bag to take a look at her loot. She suddenly snatched her hand out and began to scream when she saw her hand was covered with blood. She then collapsed on the floor and fainted. Workers immediately summoned medical assistance, and the woman was quickly revived. But her distress continued and the paramedics prepared to put her on a stretcher and take her to the hospital. But the thief continued to scream, "The bag, the bag." So a kindly bystander picked up the shopping bag, put it on her chest, and said, "Don't worry, lady, here's your bag." And the ambulance men carried her away.
