Edition 5ISBN: 978-0073407289 Exercise 1
Rude and unthinking drivers set the stage for highway aggression and danger. For instance, the driver behind you is following so closely that you can't see his license plate in your rear view mirror. Or maybe the car in front of you is hogging the passing lane and going slower than the speed limit. A driver in the next lane slips in front of you without using a turn signal. On another road it's more of the same. Someone feels compelled to pull out in front of the last car in a line of traffic rather than wait a fraction of a second for the road to be clear. People run stop signs and stop lights that are long since yellow. And there are those who speed past the line of cars forming for an exit or lane closure and try to cut in at the front of the line. Add four-letter words, horn honking, and a couple of hand gestures to these examples and you have all of the elements of a daily commute.
