The medical director of the Meyer Friedman Institute in San Francisco has researched the connection between heart disease and stress. Dr. Barton Sparagon refers to "the hurry sickness." This means that "when somebody is in a rush, and another person slows him down, the person with a hurry sickness can get extremely angry." Dr. Sparagon defines hurry sickness as "the disease of an impatient society moving ever faster." Reactions among individuals vary widely from those who "rarely exhibit their hostility to those on the other extreme who have serious impulse control problems," he says.
