Local 582 engaged in an economic strike against Broadview Dairy of Spokane, Washington. Local 582 tried to distribute handbills at several Albertson's groceries in the Spokane area. The handbills urged customers to refrain from buying Broadview products, which Albertson's sold. Albertson's formal policy forbade all solicitations, but some groups, such as Boy Scouts and area schools, were allowed on company property to make solicitations. Albertson's ordered the union members off its property. Later, Albertson's ordered union organizers off its property where they were trying to encourage Albertson's employees to join their union. Local 582 filed an unfair labor practices charge against Albertson's.
