The IRS's budget has been severely challenged in recent years. The IRS received an overall budget allocation of $11.8 billion in fiscal year (FY) 2012, down from $12.1 billion for FY 2011. This cut was accompanied by a reduction in IRS employment levels to 98,000 for FY 2012 from 104,000 in the prior year. Write a memo to the current chairs of the House and Senate Appropriations Subcommittees on Financial Services and General Government either supporting or opposing the budget cuts.
