Behavioral assessment and example:
Behavioral approach is evaluated by an individual's behavior in specific situation. The observers who interact frequently with patients are likely to produce an accurate evaluation.
For Example: A team manager observes each of her team member's activities personally. Through this, the manager can find total effective hours and total idle time the individual consumes. In addition, there are people who work hastily and disturb others not allowing them to contribute. These behavioral attributes of an individual is an on-going assessment over individual's characteristics.
There are certain counselors observing facial, gestural, and general appearances. They make these observations in a least systematic way than formal behavioral assessment that provides important insights.
Thought and experience sample assessment and example:
The thought and experience sampling process is assessing an individual's thoughts in systematic manner over a period. Because, thoughts are private experience that only the individual can observe. Here, the observer and person observed are same.
Hand-held devices are used for individual recording and assessment. However, effective the research might be there are chances that mislead due to not noting down due to stress, forgetfulness, or changing mood.
For Example: Mr. X finds himself not able to concentrate on work or family. There is immense stress that has destroyed his peace. In view of understanding what is wrong he asks psychologist's advice. The psychologist asks him to record the emotions he faces for a period. He also says this will help to solve the subject's problem of mood fluctuation.
