Deck 7: Composition
1
What are some considerations for determining margins?
Answers will vary; however, considerations may include the following:
The content and how the width and proportions of the margins can best present it
How white space in the form of margins increases readability
Designing the proportions of the margins to produce harmony, balance, and stability (usually that means more margin at the bottom)
Whether symmetrical versus asymmetrical margins function best and have more impact
2
Why is contrast necessary?
Designers use contrast to create visual interest and differentiate graphic elements from one another as well as to compare dissimilar elements.
3
How do you create balance in an asymmetric composition?
In an asymmetrical composition, you arrange forms to counterbalance each other's visual weight without mirroring opposite visual weight and positioning.
