Many people take film music for granted, losing themselves in the story as the movie unfolds. What are some of the roles of film music that the audience members subconsciously experience?
Film music can take the audience to an historical place or time.It can serve to heighten emotion in many ways, either by evoking a mood,or by linking a musical theme with a certain character.Music helps with the pacing of the drama, sometimes filling in holes in the dialogue,or helping shift the attention to something new.Music can foreshadow upcoming events, subconsciously "warning" the audience that something new, frightening,or wonderful is coming soon.
