The appropriate response is to empty the gas like you would if the pouch was full of stool. This can be done by gently pressing on the pouch to expel the gas, or by using a vent on the pouch to release the air. Making a tiny pinhole in the top of the pouch or peeling back a tiny corner of the skin barrier can increase the risk of leakage and should be avoided. Removing the pouch and putting on a new one every time it fills with gas is not necessary and can be costly.
