This is achieved by using a combination of methods such as cultural, mechanical, biological and chemical controls, instead of relying solely on pesticides. The goal is not to increase inputs of fertilizer and irrigation water, nor to increase pesticide use. It also does not aim to decrease yields and increase costs or increase the development of disease-resistant pests.
