Akbar proclaimed his belief in a new religion that he called Din-i-Ilahi or "Divine Faith". It was a syncretic faith that borrowed elements from Islam, Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, and Christianity, but also incorporated Akbar's own spiritual beliefs.
