There is no universal agreement on the definition of self-concept or self-esteem, and therefore, there is no agreed-upon way to measure them with these instruments. While there may be some differences in scores across ethnic and racial groups, this is not a major issue, and the reliabilities of these instruments are generally high, falling between .80 to .90. There is no evidence to suggest that scores on these instruments have steadily declined in the last decade.
